This was our last session of the Community of Practice: Radical Love in Practice. It had been such a fruitful time throughout the six weeks that our last session was creating some angst in my system. I was beginning to become sad at the ending and wished I had planned for a longer time together. I was also intrigued about the upcoming one-on-one interviews I would be engaging in so our radical love coaching time wouldn’t be finished so soon!
We started this session as we had all the others with our community agreements and then the goals of the session: Provide feedback for the Cycle/Model/Moves based on their current work and Revisit our Goals.
The Cycle/Model/Moves document was shared again with the group and feedback was given. Shifting some of the language around proximity and staying proximal was immediately applied in the Canva doc here. While some things like changing the tenses to match have not yet been applied due to time constraints. Things like what conditions need to be in place before a model like this is used? Was asked during the session which is an interesting question.
Chicken or the egg?
Does love have to exist before a coaching model that is based in radical love can be implemented?
Or does the coaching model exist before the conditions are perfect?
We then shifted to our goals. This was the tying up of the whole experience together. Did they meet their goals they had named in Week 3 of this Community of Practice? Probably not because it had been 3 weeks… that’s not a lot of time really. But had there been effort applied to getting better at that area they had named? And every person had applied effort to an area of radical love that they had named and had gotten better at it through either reflection, more intention, or just focus. I was pleased with this process and the outcomes.
We continued to discuss these questions in no particular order:
- What was your goal?
- Did you meet it? Why? Why not?
- How can you continue to work on your goal without the support of the CoP?
- How will you continue to prioritize radical love?
As we dialogued about these questions, I realized that their answers were the feedback I needed to grow this radical love concept within coaching. They would continue to reflect and be in each other’s lives reminding each other of their own inherent goodness.
